Grandmas going to school in uniform!
Grandmas going to school in school uniform at age 60, carrying their school bags!
 In a village in Maharastra State, women aged 60 years and above go to school daily, like a child carrying their school bags on their back.

 A special primary school was started in Pangane village in Thane near Mumbai.

==In this about 30 women aged between 60 years and 90 years are studying.

==These aged women wear a pinkish uniform, carry a slate and stylus (palupam) in a bag and go to school daily.

==The school starts with a prayer like any other school.

==In this primary school they teach nursery rhymes, fundamental maths, Marathi alphabets and proper pronunciation of Marathi.

==Agriculture is predominant in this village. And all the grandmas were illiterate.

==Yogendra Pankar (45) who came to know about this fact, joined hands with the Mothiram Trust and is running this school.

==He is working as a teacher in the Primary School of that village.

==Pankar tells, "Due to my efforts, this village had attained 100% literacy.

==Further he says, "The general health awareness had also increased among these women.

==In particular, they had stopped using the open place as their toilet.

==Mrs.Kaanda, a student of this school tells,

=="At first I was a bit reluctant to join in this school. But when I came to know that persons of my age were studying here, I joined the school.

== Now I am able to read and write in my mother tongue, Marathi."
