என்னுடைய 10 வயது மாணவனின் வீட்டிற்கு சென்று வாழ்த்தி விட்டு வந்த நிகழ்ச்சி. 

On 06.04.2017 at about 1 pm, I walked in the hot sun to visit my 10 year old student, Balaji Babu at Kabini Street, Arisipalayam, Salem. // 06.04.2017, அன்று மத்தியம் ஒரு மணி சுமார், கடும் வெயிலில், அரிசிபாளையம் கபினித் தெருவில் இருக்கும் என்னுடைய 10 வயது மாணவன், பாலாஜி பாபுவின் வீட்டிற்கு  நடந்து சென்றேன்.

I told his parents and grand parents that this boy has a potential to become a future collector, IPS officer or someone of respectable position. // அவனுடைய பெற்றோரிடமும், தாத்தா பாட்டியிடமும், பாலாஜி எதிர்காலத்தில் ஒரு பெரிய ஆளாக ... கலெக்டராகவோ, ஐபிஸ் படித்த போலீசாகவோ, விஞ்ஞானியாகவோ வருவான் என்று கூறினேன்.

(Generally I try to visit kids house after 90 days of classes, if I am fully satisfied with him and his parents // (எப்போதும் என்னிடம் 90 நாட்கள் படித்த  பின், மாணவர்களின் நடத்தையிலும் பெற்றோரின் நடத்தையிலும் எனக்கு முழு திருப்தி ஏற்பட்டால், நானாக அவர்கள் வீட்டிற்கு வருகிறேன் என்று கூறி, பின் சென்று வருவேன்).

They were very happy to receive me and gave me butter milk and special "somasa". The boy's grand father seems to know my grandfather very well. I told repeatedly that their son had a bright future and left after having my snacks, since it was nearing lunch time.  // என்னை அவர்கள் மிக்க மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் வரவேற்று உபசரித்தனர். மோரும் ஸ்பெஷல் சமோசாவும் தந்தார்கள். அந்த பையனின் தாத்தாவிற்கு என்னுடைய தாத்தாவை தெரியும் போல. அவர்களிடம், தங்கள் குழந்தைக்கு பிரகாசமான எதிர்காலம் உள்ளது என்று திரும்ப திரும்ப கூறினேன். பிறகு சாப்பாட்டு நேரம் நெருங்கியதால் புறப்பட்டு வந்து விட்டேன்.

It was nice manners that his father, a follower of Ramalinga valalar, made his son fall at my feet and get my blessings.

ராமலிங்க வள்ளாரின் அபிமானியாகிய அவனுடைய தந்தை  நான் கிழம்பும் போது அவர் மகனை என்னுடைய காலை தொட்டு ஆசி பெருமாறு கூறியது, ஒரு நெகிழ்ச்சியான தருனமாக  எனக்கு தோன்றியது.

This boy had studied with me from June 2016. When he came for admission last June 2016 his father told that he had observed me taking classes in the same place 8 years ago. He had been my long time fan and was waiting for enrolling his son with me all these years.

பாலாஜி  என்ற இச்சிறுவன் கடந்த ஜுன் 2016 மாதத்தில்  இருந்து  என்னிடம் படிக்கின்றான். சேர்க்கைக்கு வந்த நாள், "ஐயா, எட்டு ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு நீங்கள்  இதே இடத்தில் வகுப்பு எடுக்கும் பாங்கை நான் கவனித்து உள்ளேன். எப்படியும் என் மகனை உங்களிடம்  சேர்த்து விட வேண்டும் என்று தீர்மானத்துடன் இருந்தேன்", என்றார்.

However, after 3 months he had difficulties in paying my monthly fees. So, I gave him some consideration and his son continued.

இருந்தாலும் 3 மாதங்கள் கழித்து அவருடைய மகனுக்கு ஃபீஸ் கொடுப்பதில் சிரமம் ஏற்பட்டது. ஆகையால் அவருக்கு நான் சில சலுகைகள் கொடுக்க வேண்டிய சூழல் எற்பட்டது.

This boy was very intelligent. He was a rank holder in school. He was strong both in English and Tamil. And very soon he learnt to quickly locate the meanings from a dictionary.

இச் சிறுவன் மிக புத்திசாலி. பள்ளியில் முதல் தரவரிசையில் இருந்தான். அவனுக்கு ஆங்கிலம் மற்றும் தமிழ் இரண்டிலும் அபாரமான அறிவற்றல் இருந்தது.
டிக்ஸ்னரியில் இருந்து ஒரு வார்த்தையின் அர்த்தத்தை எப்படி கண்டு பிடிப்பது என்று சொல்லிக் கொடுத்த சில நாட்களிலேயே கற்றுக் கொண்டான்.

He will always laugh loudly when others make mistakes. He will always bully other boys and was of bossing type.

அடுத்த மாணவர்கள் தவறு செய்தால் உடனே பலமாக   சிரித்துவிடுவான். சமயம் கிடைக்கும் போது  எல்லா மணவர்களையும் அதட்டுவான், வம்புக்கு இழுப்பான்.

At the beginning, I had a tough time controlling him without beating. He refused to be quite when I taught others. He will blurt out immediately the correct answer for all the questions I ask others. This was a big nuisance for me.

அவனை அடிக்காமல் சமாளிப்பது எனக்கு மிகுந்த சவாலாக இருந்தது. நான் மற்றவர்களுக்கு சொல்லிக் கொடுக்கும் போது அவனால் அமைதியாக இருக்கவே முடியவில்லை. நான் மற்றவர்களிடம் கேட்ட கேள்வியின் சரியான விடையை அடுத்த கனம் சொல்லி விடுவான். இது எனக்கு மிகுந்த தொந்தரவாக இருந்தது.

Once, I was forced to charge Rs.20 fine from him parents for his misbehaviour. Anyway, I returned it to them without his knowledge. Another time, I confiscated his red ink pen, when he refused to follow certain disciplinary points.

ஒரு சமயம் அவன் செய்த பிரச்சனைக்காக அவனுடைய பெற்றேரிடம் ரூபாய் 20 ஃபைன் தண்டமாக கட்ட கூற வேண்டிய நிர்பந்தம் ஏற்பட்டது. ஆனாலும, அவனுக்கு தெரியாமல் பெற்றோரிடம் பணத்தை திரும்பி கொடுத்து விட்டேன். மற்றோரு முறை அவன் செய்த  பிரச்சனையிற்காக அவனுடைய சிகப்பு பேனாவை பிடுங்கி வைத்துக்கொண்டேன்.

I remember my relatives say that I was a very naughty boy when I was young. I used to wonder that this is how I would have been when I was young. Hence, instead of scolding him directly, I will make him think by asking questions like "how can I do my duty if you interfer with my class?". As if requesting him to allow me to do my duty.

நான் கூட என் சிறுவயதி மிகவும் குறும்பக்காரனாக இருந்ததாக என் உறவினர்கள் கூறி இருக்கிறார்கள். இச்சிறுவன் போல தான் நானும் அன்று இருந்து இருப்பேன் என்று எண்ணயது உண்டு.  ஆகையால், அவனை நேரடியாக  திட்டாமல், "இப்படி குறுக்கிட்டால் நான் மற்றவர்களுக்கு எப்படி கண்ணா பாடம் நடத்துவது?" என்று கேள்வி ஸகேட்பேன். அது அவனிடம் என் வேலையை செய்ய தயவு  செய்து அனுமதி என்று வேண்டுவது போல இருக்கும்

Finally he was "tamed" and if I raised my voice telling, "Do you want me to levy Rs.20 fine for your poor behaviour today?" he became quiet.

ஒரு வழியாக அவன் என் வழிக்கு வந்தான்.  பிறகு "உன் குறும்பு  நடத்தையிற்காக உன் பெற்றேரிடம் தண்டம் fine என்று எழுதி கொடுக்க வா?  "என்று பலமாக கூறினால், அமைதி ஆகிவிடுவான்.
