The cow is a gentle animal. It is very useful.  It has four feet and a long bushy tail. It has big and beautiful eyes.

 It is of many colours --- white, red, black or brown. A spotted cow looks more beautiful. Grass, leaves etc are its main food. It gives us milk. Milk is a perfect food. It is good for everybody. From it are made curds, butter, ghee and whey.

 Milk is used to prepare dishes and sweets. Cow-dung is used to coat the mud-walls of a house. The dry cow-dung cakes are used as fuel. It is also a good manure. Its hide is used for making leather goods.

 Its male is called a bull or an ox. A baby cow is called a calf. The bullocks are used to pull carts, to draw water and to plough the field. The cow is a great boon to us. Its call is pleasing. It is a called lowing or mooing.
