 Once two friends were going to town to sell their goods. Their way lay through a forest. “I’m afraid of wild animals,” said the first friend.  “Don’t be afraid,” said the second friend. “There are two of us. If you are in danger, I’ll help you and if I am in danger, you help me”.  “What a good friend you are!” said the first friend. “Now I’m no longer frightened.”

 Just then, out of the forest, came a big, black bear. The second friend forgot his promise. He ran quickly and climbed a tree. The first had no time to climb a tree. In a flash the thought came to him that bears never touch dead men. So he lay down on the ground – stiff and unmoving – like a dead man.

 The bear came and sniffed. He thought the man was really dead. He walked away.  Now the other friend climbed down from the tree. “That was lucky,” he said. “But weren’t you frightened when the bear came so close to your face?” “No. I wasn’t,” said the first friend. “The bear actually whispered some words of advice.”

 “He did!” said the second friend. “What did he say?”. “The bear told me never to trust a friend who leaves one in trouble,” said the first friend. Then he walked away.

 MORAL :
A FRIEND IN NEED IS A FRIEND INDEED!
