 Today (FRIDAY) the waters of Mettur Dam are opened for irrigation.

இன்று (வெள்ளிக்கிழமை) மேட்டூர் அணையின் நீர் பாசனத்திற்கு திறக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

 Generally on June 12th of every year the water from Mettur Dam is opened for irrigation  purpose.

ஒவ்வொரு வருடமும் ஜூன் 12 ம் தேதி மேட்டூர் அணையிலிருந்து நீர் பாசனத்திற்கு திறக்கப்படுகிறது .

However, since there was not enough rains this year it had been delayed.

எனினும், இந்த ஆண்டு போதுமான அளவு மழை இல்லாததால் அது தாமதமாகிவிட்டது.

Due to have rains in Karnataka recently the Kabini Dam and Krishnarajasagar Dam reached full  capacity.

சமீபத்தில் மழை  காரணமாக கர்நாடகாவில் கபினி அணை மற்றும் கிருஷ்ணராஜாகர் அணையின் நீர்மட்டம் முழுமையடைந்தது.

 So the water from these were let out. Hence, the water level in Mettur Dam touched 100 feet on July 28th, 2013.

ஆகையால், இவற்றில் இருந்து தண்ணீர் வெளியேற்றப்பட்டது. எனவே, மேட்டூர் அணையின் நீர்மட்டம் ஜூலை 28, 2013 அன்று 100 அடி தொட்டது.

Following this the dam was opened today. 16 Lakh Acres irrigation lands in Salem and Namakkal Districts will get benefited out of this.

அணை இன்று திறக்கப்பட்டது. சேலம் மற்றும் நாமக்கல்  மாவட்டங்களில் உள்ள 16 லட்சம் ஏக்கர் பாசன நிலங்கள் இவற்றில் இருந்து பயன் பெறும்.
