In Brazil they are destroying the forests and building houses.

ஆனால் ஒரு நிலத்தை வாங்கி, காட்டை உருவாக்கி இருக்கிறார் 83 வயது அன்டோனியோ வின்சென்ட்.
But an 83 year old man named Antonio Vincent bought land and is building a forest.

“மரங்கள் அடர்ந்த வனப் பகுதியில் தான் என் குழந்தைப் பருவம் கழிந்தது.
மரங்கள் வெட்டுவதையும் மரங்கள் வெட்டியதால் தண்ணீர் பிரச்சினை ஏற்பட்டதையும் கண்டேன்.
He says - "My childhood was spent in a place filled with lot of trees.
I observed that we got water problem due to cutting of trees.

 நம்மால் தண்ணீரை உருவாக்க முடியாது. இருப்பதைக் கவனமாகப் பார்த்துக் கொள்ள வேண்டும் என்ற சிந்தனை கூட மனிதர்களுக்கு இல்லை.
We can't create water. But we don't have enough sense to even preserve the existing water resources.

பிறகு நகருக்கு வந்துவிட்டோம். ஆனாலும் வனத்தையே மனம் தேடிக் கொண்டிருந்தது.
We came to cities later, but our minds are longing to go back to the forests.

கடினமாக உழைத்து, 1973-ம் ஆண்டு 31 ஏக்கர் நிலத்தை வாங்கி, பல்வேறு விதைகளை விதைத்தேன்.

I worked hard in 1973 and bought 31 acres land and planted many trees.

தண்ணீர் ஊற்றி வளர்த்தேன். அருகில் இருந்தவர்கள் இதில் ஒரு பைசா வருமானம் வராது, வெட்டி வேலை என்று சொல்லிக் கொண்டே இருந்தார்கள். நான் கண்டு கொள்ளவில்லை.
I poured water and grew the plants.
Neighbours told this is a stupid thing to do and no money will come from this. But I did not listen to their words.

சில கழுதைகளையும் மனிதர்களையும் உதவிக்கு வைத்துக்கொண்டு இந்தக் காட்டை உருவாக்கினேன்.
I utilized some human beings and donkeys for building this forest.

 ஆரம்பத்தில் விடுமுறை நாட்களில் வந்து வேலை செய்தேன். பின்னர் இதையே என் முழு நேரத் தொழிலாக மாற்றிக் கொண்டேன்.

In the beginning, I came here and did my work only in my holidays.
After that I made it as my full time work.

மரங்களிலிருந்து விளையும் பழங்களைச் சாப்பிடுவேன். எலிகளுடனும் நரிகளுடனும் வாழ்ந்தேன். 40 ஆண்டுகளில் இந்தக் காட்டில் 50 ஆயிரம் மரங்களை வைத்திருக்கிறேன்.

I will eat the fruits which grew in trees. I have lived with foxes and rats here. In 40 years I have planted 50 thousand trees.

 ஆரம்பத்தில் தண்ணீர் விடுவதுதான் பெரிய பிரச்சினையாக இருந்தது. இப்போது சிற்றருவிகளும் குளங்களுமாக 20 தண்ணீர் ஆதாரங்கள் காட்டுக்குள் இருக்கின்றன.

In the beginning supplying water was a big problem.
But now there are 20 streams and ponds in this forest.

 தண்ணீர் வந்தவுடன் விலங்குகள், பறவைகள், பூச்சிகள், விலங்குகள் எல்லாம் காட்டுக்குள் குடிபுகுந்துவிட்டன. பார்ப்பவர்கள் அனைவரும் இதைச் சிறிய மழைக்காடு என்றே அழைக்கிறார்கள்.
After I brought water, animals, birds and insects all came into the forest.
All are calling this a "Small Rainforest".

 நாற்பது ஆண்டுகளில் ஒரு தனி மனிதரால் சிறிய காட்டை உருவாக்க முடியும் என்றால், அரசாங்கம் மனம் வைத்தால் இருக்கிற காடுகளையும் பாதுகாக்க முடியும். புதிய காடுகளையும் உருவாக்க முடியும்.
If in 40 years a single person can build a forest, why can't the government save the existing forests? They can also create new forests.

எல்லோரும் என் குடும்பம் பற்றி விசாரிக்கிறார்கள். என்..குடும்பம் கொஞ்சம் பெரியது. நான் விதைத்து உருவாக்கிய 50 ஆயிரம் மரங்கள் தான் என் பிள்ளைகள்.
All the people are enquiring about my "family". My family is a big one.
The 50 thousand trees that I have planted are my sons.

இந்தப் பூமிக்கு என்னால் முடிந்த நல்ல விஷயத்தை செய்த திருப்தி இருக்கிறது” என்கிறார் வின்சென்ட்.

I am satisfied that I have done a good job to this earth - says Vincent.
